You may have already bought the basic items a baby needs, such as a crib and a stroller. But these are not enough. Shortly before we leave the maternity hospital, the gynecologist and midwives will give us a list. We learn what are the absolutely necessary things that our baby needs after the maternity hospital!
What do we need after maternity hospital?
- Diapers
It is the most essential product that we should have with us. We do not rush and take too many to start with because we will have to choose them according to the weight of the baby. We make sure that they are specially designed for the skin of the newborn baby, absorb moisture quickly, and leave the skin dry. We will also need baby wipes to gently clean the newborn's skin. They should not contain perfumes and alcohol, but moisturizing elements that help better maintain the natural balance of the baby's skin.
- Diaper change cream
It is absolutely necessary for the daily care of the baby's sensitive area after each diaper change. It is good to make sure that the cream respects the sensitive skin of our baby, protecting it from irritation and at the same time moisturizing it.
- Shampoo and shower gel
The baby's skin is sensitive and needs special care during the bath, so we should use special baby products for gentle cleansing of hair and skin, with a neutral pH, that does not cause tears, hypoallergenic, dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested.
- Moisturizing cream
A baby's delicate and sensitive skin needs special care and hydration and is usually deemed necessary during the first year of his life. Hydration time can be an opportunity for massage, joy and bonding between parent and baby!
We choose the appropriate moisturizer for his skin, which will be hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, with soothing and anti-irritant properties and as many natural ingredients as possible, which will ensure hydration and combat dryness and irritation.
Body creams are usually indicated for the face as well, moisturizing it and removing any irritations. We ensure that these creams have a light, non-greasy texture, are hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested, again with natural ingredients dominating.
- Breast pump and breast milk storage bags
If you breastfeed, you will definitely find a breast pump and breast milk storage containers or bags useful. Breast milk storage bags offer the possibility of preserving breast milk easily, saving space and in the necessary hygienic conditions. Simply fill the bag with the milk you have pumped and then put it in the refrigerator or freezer.
- Bottles and nipples
If we are not breastfeeding, we will need bottles and nipples, a sterilizer, and plastic tweezers.
