Meal preparation  

Each utensil used (bottle, syringe or tube feeding tube) must be prepared separately before each feeding.  

If you use frozen breast milk, gradually thaw it in the refrigerator (below 4oC). DO NOT use a microwave oven and do not allow it to thaw at room temperature.  

Shake or stir the breast milk before transferring it to the feeding utensil.

Transfer only the required amount of breast milk to which you will be adding PreNAN HMF.

Before mixing with the booster, heat the breast milk until it comes to body temperature. DO NOT USE a microwave oven.  

Separate the sachets and take one sachet of 1g. Add the required amount of PreNAN HMF to the desired amount of lukewarm breast milk (35oC-40oC), using the standard preparation (1g per 25 ml of breast milk) or the individual amount if any other reconstitution is recommended.

Close the mouthpiece and shake lightly until the powder is completely dissolved and FEED IMMEDIATELY.

Discard the entire amount of fortified breast milk after each meal.  

Open sachets should be used immediately or discarded.

For tube feeding: once the fortified breast milk is ready, it should be used within 4 hours

The following instructions are given as a general guideline and may be changed according to your doctor’s instructions. An amount appropriate for the weight and age of the premature/low birth weight infant should be recommended. The typical level of breast milk fortification is 1g (1 sachet) per 25ml of breast milk. After assessing the infant’s tolerance over a period of 24 hours, fortification may be increased to the typical level (4g PreNAN® HMF per 100ml of breast milk) or follow the individualized instructions of the doctor or hospital.

Important note: Breast milk is the ideal food for premature and low birth weight infants. Breastfeeding should be continued for as long as possible.  

WARNING: Always wash your hands and sterilize feeding utensils before preparing your infant’s meal. Prepare only one meal at a time. Feed immediately and follow directions carefully. Improper reconstitution may make your infant sick. Throw away any leftover fortified breast milk after each meal. For use only under medical supervision. Contraindications: PreNAN Human Milk Fortifier is not indicated as the sole source of nutrition. It is not suitable for use in infants with a known cow’s milk allergy, lactose intolerance, and congenital metabolic diseases such as galactosemia/glucose-galactose malabsorption. Not for parenteral use.
